Herbal Remedies for Arthritis:

Arthritis is one of the most common joint affecting conditions and can, in its more serious forms, have quite a debilitating effect on the way the patient lives his or her life. Arthritis is not a condition on its own, but really a collection of different types of joint affecting conditions that act very similar. The condition primarily develops and affects the musculoskeletal system by breaking down the cartilage and it can affect people of any age, gender or race. There are a number of factors that will play a considerable role in deciding who is affected by the condition. For example, age is one of the foremost deciding factors. The older a person is, the more stress and wear and tear the joints have had to endure over the years. As a result, a natural breakdown takes place and results in arthritis. However, it must be stressed that some individuals in their early twenties also have a chance of developing the condition. Suffering from obesity will place additional, unnecessary stress on the joints causing them to degenerate more rapidly – making arthritis develop even faster. Suffering from trauma will also play its role in weakening the joints while systemic disease like gout and lupus are known to increase the likelihood of suffering from arthritis.

Because of the fact that arthritis is such a common condition, there are a number of herbal remedy treatments that could help treat the condition. The use of a horseradish poultice is one of the best natural home remedies that is used to treat this condition. All that is required is to process enough of the fresh horseradish root in a blender of hot water and create a thick paste. Soak a piece of cotton fabric cloth in the mixture and make sure it spreads evenly before covering one side of the cloth with a dry, second layer of fabric. Place the moist side of the cloth on the affected area and leave it on for a period of about 15 to 30 minutes. You could also place a hot water bottle over the top of the poultice to allow it to retain its warmth. Another option would be to make a strong infusion using either juniper berries or their tincture and, just as with the horseradish poultice, soak a warm cloth in the liquid and place it over the affected areas. It is also important that you regularly have your condition checked by you physician in order to make sure that everything remains in control.
