It is very necessary to eat healthy and balanced food to develop a habit of having a healthy pregnancy diet that can help you have a healthy baby. Eating well during pregnancy may not be a piece of cake between craving and morning sickness. But prenatal nutrition is necessary for your baby growth, proper development of brain and to reduce the risk of birth defect, healthy pregnancy diet gives a strong immune system to baby. It is not that how much you eat but how much of nutritious diet you take.

A healthy pregnancy diet is more important, since what you eat has to meet your unborn baby needs as your own requirement. Healthy diet is more important in the first trimester of pregnancy as most of the physical and mental growth of the baby take place during this period.  The major principal organs both internal and external and the nervous system of the baby get formed during this period. So it is very important to take healthy pregnancy diet in the beginning itself even you have discomfort like nausea etc. Like wise the growth of baby is fast during the last three month of pregnancy though the healthy pregnancy diet is must during this period for normal birth weight of the baby.

There are certain foods which should be avoided during pregnancy like Deli meats, Fish with mercury, Smoked foods, raw shellfish, raw eggs, Soft Cheese, Un- pasteurized milk, Pate and Caffeine, Alcohol. This type of food can create toxins in body which can be harmful for baby and its mother. It is always advisable to take suggestions from a dietician whenever you go for any new food regimes. Fresh fruits, plenty of vegetables and vitamin supplements can do wonders for a developing infant.
