Respiratory conditions such as asthma and whooping cough are also prevented by the intake of figs. They also promote the health of the liver and are help in treatment of infections that result in abscesses and boils. Venereal diseases and fever are also alleviated by consuming figs. Being highly alkaline in nature, figs help in the regulation of the pH balance of the body. Antioxidants such as polyphenols and flavonoids are present in figs which restrict the damage caused by free radicals.

Warts can also be treated by applying the flesh of a fig and leaving it on for half an hour each day. Toothaches can be relieved using figs.
