Natural Headache Treatment

Try different types of combination’s to get relief from headaches as it is possible, that not one particular solution or method may get rid of headaches. One of the most powerful natural treatments for headaches is aromatherapy. Some important headache remedies include essential oil of pepper mint, sandalwood oil, lavender oils and eucalyptus oils. Any of these essential oils mainly used alone or as the combination can help to relieve headaches to a great extent. Take any of these essential oils and add five or six drops in warm water. Take a soft cloth and swirl it around the bowl of water containing the oils, and make a compress of it. The cloth can then be placed on the head or the neck for relief from headaches. Another interesting natural treatment for headache is exercise. It is common knowledge that regular exercise helps people to cope with pain. Exercise is particularly effective for people who suffer from migraine headaches. It has been reported that mild exercise during a migraine attack helps to relieve pain. Try taking a brisk walk outdoors when you are experiencing a headache. According to medical experts, exercise helps the body to release its own natural painkillers known as endorphins.

Head Massage as an alternative treatment for headache

Some people believe that a simple massage around the temples can help to relieve headache. A gentle massage on the scalp helps to eliminate in tension headaches by relieving stress which is a major element in the cause of tension headaches.  A head massage can be combined with a neck massage for release of tension that is built up around the neck, as sometimes this tension around the neck is also a likely factor for headaches. For headaches that are caused due to sinus problems, heat some vinegar in a bowl of water.  Wrap a towel or a soft cloth around the forehead and bend over the bowl containing vinegar. Take a deep breath of the fumes that are exhaling from the bowl, as these fumes helped to unblock the sinus and relieve headaches.  Some people find relief by lying down in a dark quiet room while experiencing a headache. A gentle massage of pressure on the bridge of the nose or the temples can also help to relieve pain from headaches. For those who experience intense muscle contractions in the neck, exercises recommended by a physiotherapist can greatly help to relieve chronic headaches. By applying an icepack wrapped in a soft cloth, to that particular area of the head that is causing the pain can also relieve headaches. The icepack can be placed on the forehead or on the back of the neck for release from tension and stress.
