Facial Wrinkles
Wrinkles on the face start appearing due to the ageing process. As we grow old, the fats and oils under the skin start drying up, causing the skin to lose its natural elasticity. As a result, the skin cannot retain its natural shape and small creases and wrinkles appear on the skin. However, the ageing of skin does not happen similarly for everyone. Depending on genetic factors, lifestyle habits, and natural skin type, the ageing of skin may vary significantly from one person to another. For example, if you have a naturally dry skin, you will be more susceptible to wrinkles. Also, if you smoke a lot, spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun, and have a stressful lifestyle, the chances of getting facial wrinkles rise significantly.
Wrinkles that appear with old age are mostly unavoidable and cannot be erased unless some special medical treatment or surgical methods are employed. But, the wrinkles that appear prematurely can be prevented and treated if some precautionary steps are followed.
• Apply moisturizer on your skin regularly so that you do not suffer from dry skin. Several oils, body lotions, facial creams are available in the stores that can help keep your skin moisturized. You can also use coconut oil, olive oil, and other essential oils that are mostly available at home. If you can get hold of vitamin E-enriched oils to apply your skin, it is even better. Make a habit of applying moisturizers on the skin each night before sleeping. It becomes especially important if you suffer from dry skin condition.
• Another step to keep your skin healthy is to drink plenty of water. Water helps relieve the dryness of your skin and makes it look fresh and healthier. People suffering from naturally dry skin should be extra careful with water consumption.
• Diet also makes a lot of difference to the health of skin. Vegetables and fruits should be consumed as much as possible. Alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and smoking are harmful for the skin and should be avoided.
• Take adequate protective measures to save your skin from harmful UV rays of the sun and other chemicals or pollution. Wear protective clothing whenever you go out in direct sunlight – this will protect your skin from sunlight as well as pollution. Also, you should use sunscreen lotion before going out in the sun.
You can get special medical treatment – medications as well as surgery – but none of them can be a permanent solution. Besides, some of the methods may have adverse side-effects. Therefore, consult a dermatologist and get the details of each method before you decide on any of them.
