Ear Wax Removal Home Remedy
Our body produces ear wax to keep our ear drum, canal clean and the delicate skin in our ear moist. The ear canal and the wax is designed in such a way that every few days all the wax automatically falls out at night when we sleep or during the course of our day. However, some times for various reasons, the production of ear wax in our ears increases and the body is unable to dispose of it fast enough. Thus the wax accumulates and in time the ear begins to itch and feel blocked. Ear wax is a common problem for us all. It can be messy, have an odor and even embarrassing in social situations. Removal of ear wax is a process that should be done with utmost caution for obvious reasons. Using cotton swabs, hairpins or sticking any long thin object, (some people use even matchsticks) into your ear is dangerous. This can lead to infections if you injure yourself by accident. Further more studies have proven that using ear swabs or any such thing only worsens the situation as it pushes the wax further down the canal.
One of the most effective ways to clean your ears of the excessive wax at home is by the use of hydrogen peroxide. This is the most recommended and used home remedy. However it should be noted that this is a potent substance and in some cases can cause more damage than good. This is especially the case if there is a perforation in the ear drum. So before you does any thing consult your doctor.
Here are the steps you need to take:
1. Put a few drops of H2o2 in each ear at night. Do this for about three nights.
2. Get a bulb syringe from a chemist and fill with warm water and flush the ear with it.
3. Tilt your head toward the sink and let the water flow out. Do this a couple of times to remove the dissolved wax from the ear canal.
4. Take some rubbing alcohol and drop a few drops of it into the ear canal. Again tilt your head and let it out. The alcohol dries out the ear.
This procedure can be repeated with Paraffin oil or any mineral oil. There are also several over-the-counter drops available for removal of ear wax. The best and safest home remedy, however, is the one mentioned above.
