The symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis can vary for people from day to day. On some days you might find that the symptoms are not so severe or flared while the very next day you might be greatly affected.  Because of this swing in the symptoms people tend to think that what they may add to their Rheumatoid arthritis diet could largely influence the symptoms.  Research ahs been conducted in this field to determine whether any particular types of food can impact the symptoms of this disease and no conclusive evidence has been found yet.  But studies have shown that taking oranges and some types of fish oil can reduce inflammation in the joint.

Rheumatoid arthritis diet must consist of a healthy well balanced set of foods which include fresh fruits, juices, lots of vegetables and greens, sugar, fat, salt and whole grain foods. You should also include minerals and vitamins in the form of pills to supplement your diet. But if you feel that certain kinds of food are affecting your problem, then you can omit them from your diet after due consultation with your doctor.

Some of the evidence that researchers have found which showed that certain foods affected the arthritis when included in the rheumatoid arthritis diet is that animals’ fats cause a significant increase in the inflammation. Patients were advised to take Omega 3 which are found in fish and flaxseeds and GLA or evening primrose oil which are great for rheumatoid arthritis. Some of the foods that are rich in Omega 3 oil are Salmon, soybeans, walnuts, fresh avocado, and Canola oil.

Food allergies if any can cause a strain on your immune system which could lead to further inflammation of your joints. So make sure that you avoid foods like milk products, wheat products that you think are possible to cause allergies in you and make sure to have them removed from your rheumatoid arthritis diet.

Nightshades are also considered to be causing problems when included in the diet of Rheumatoid arthritis patients. Foods like tomatoes, capsicums or peppers, potatoes and eggplants can cause the symptoms to flare up. Seafood, which has been found to be very effective in controlling the inflammation. Intake of steamed or raw foods like vegetables, chicken, fish, rice and whole grains should also be included in the rheumatoid arthritis diet to help decrease inflammation. Fasting also has greatly helped people who are suffering from this disease.
