How to Prevent Diabetes
Diabetes can have a serious effect on your life if not controlled at the right time. The root cause for getting diabetes is attributed to the kind of food that you have being eating. You need to understand what causes diabetes in the first place in order to keep it in check. When we eat food, the proteins, fats and carbohydrates present in the food are broken down and used in the body. Carbohydrates are digested and converted into simple sugar that is further carried on to the blood. Glucose is found in simple sugar and is needed by the different cells of the body for energy. If the body is not able to get this, it will not be able to perform the functions that it has to. Diabetes occurs when the body is not able to utilize this glucose well because of which it remains in the blood itself.
There are a lot of precautions and care that you need to take if you are suffering from diabetes but the hectic schedule at work might prevent you from doing so. So how does one manage diabetes while at work? Well, it is not very difficult as long as you have it all planned well in advance. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and by no means can you skip it. In fact, it is said that if you are on medications and do not have your breakfast, it will result in low sugar. Also, it is best that you carry your lunch and snacks from home so that you know what you are eating. If you are taking insulin injections, you should have your meal immediately after that, as it helps in lowering problems of low blood sugar.
Have a small kit ready in which you keep your instruments that are required to test your blood sugar. It might just take you a few minutes at your desk to do so or if you find it difficult to get even little time for yourself, take the kit to the restroom and test yourself over there. Most people with diabetes might not be comfortable to tell their co workers that they have diabetes but it is recommended that at least one co worker know about it and you can also tell your boss about the same. You need to get adequate amount of sleep during the night and not take stress because it directly has an impact on the blood sugar levels.
