Cure for Gingivitis
Gingivitis is commonly known as gum disease and it can be taken care of at home unless it has become really severe and infected to boot. You will need to check your daily brushing and teeth cleaning habits. To begin with, you should start massaging your gums with plain table salt and warm water. This is helpful in many ways. It will help to reduce the swelling, clean the area underneath your gums and will also help with the healing process. You should spend five minutes doing this each morning, preferably after brushing your teeth. You will also need to brush your teeth more thoroughly, and ensure that you get rid of all food particles and other things that may be stuck beneath your gums. The other measure you should follow is to make a habit out of thoroughly rinsing your teeth after each meal. This will help with automatically removing most of the food particles stuck underneath your gums. After meals is the best time to do this, since the food has not yet gotten stuck and penetrated deep into the space between your gums and teeth. Even if you wait for 20 minutes, the simple involuntary act of keeping your mouth closed will help the food to travel beyond the range of simple cleaning.
If you are troubled with bleeding gums, you should tone up on your intake of vitamin C. This nutrient is very useful in helping with problems such as bleeding of the gums. Vitamin C also has the property of improving your immunity. This will also help with better and faster healing. Consuming alcohol can lead to the quicker weakening of your teeth. If possible, you need to stop or at least reduce your alcohol intake. You should also cut back on smoking, which has a direct and negative effect on your teeth. If you do smoke and drink, make it a rule to cleanse your mouth out with diluted hydrogen peroxide before bedtime. Take equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water and swish it about in your mouth for a whole minute. Spit this out and rinse with water. This will not only help with cleansing away residues, it will also prohibit bacteria from forming overnight. Eating an apple everyday will help to strengthen your teeth and also keep away bad breath. Bad breath, a common side effect of gingivitis, can also be controlled by cleaning your tongue.
