Crab Lice - Pubic Lice
Pubic lice are a rampant problem among men and women alike. This particularly affects young adults and is typified by a red rash that may occur in the pubic area, the anus as well as the abdomen or armpits, though the last one is rare. Rarer still are infestations on the eyelashes and eyebrows. However, they do occur and they are also quite difficult to hide or control. Among the commonest recorded symptoms of having pubic lice is a rash accompanied with intense itching. This magnifies manifold during the night, as this is the time the lice are most active. You could also develop a fever if you have a particularly nasty infestation of crab lice. Feeling low and physically not all fit is also a common symptom of having crab lice. All the symptoms put together can also make you extremely irritated most of the time. There are some cures available in terms of medicines and applications of ointments and so on. However, most of them are prescription based and you would need to get a proper medical diagnosis and prescription for most of them. Since these are quite harmful if mishandled, it is better you stick to whatever instructions you have to be safe with these medications.

Apart from this, you have to become extremely strict about maintaining personal hygiene. This can be an overwhelming task as you will have to clean your entire house thoroughly. Vacuum thoroughly and quarantine used bedding. Wash your bedding, every single piece you use, with hot water daily. This is cumbersome, but it will help to kill the lice. Try and use about four sets of bedding; wash one and put it away from other bedding and people for three days. If there are any eggs left in the bedding after a wash, they will die within a day without the human body to live off from. All the bedding you have used while suffering from the problem should be stored away for a couple of months, as this will effectively kill every single louse and egg. The same treatment should be followed with clothes too, particularly under garments. The whole family should follow these instructions as everyone needs to get rid of the lice collectively; otherwise it is no use, as they will keep multiplying via contact. Bathe with hot water to which a few drops of tea tree oil have been added, as it will help kill the lice. You cannot use this remedial measure for children and babies.
