Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis commonly known as pinkeye is an inflammation of the outermost layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids. This is commonly caused due to an allergic reaction or an infection. There are different types of conjunctivitis like viral conjunctivitis, bacterial conjunctivitis, allergic conjunctivitis and Giant papillary conjunctivitis. They either affect one or both eyes and lead to eye watering.
The person suffering from this problem usually have redness of the eyes due to inflammation. Even the itching sensation persists and the eyes start hurting. It is highly contagious and therefore proper precautions should be taken
The following home remedies are helpful in treating conjunctivitis .
- Eyes should be washed frequently. A decoction made of dried coriander in a cup of water is an excellent eye wash.
- • The towels, pillowcases should not be shared with anyone. It is advisable to wash them after each use.
- • Raw juices of vegetables like carrots and spinach are helpful in treating this disease. Even gooseberry juice mixed with honey is useful for this problem .
- • Person suffering from this ailment is suggested to include vitamin A and B2 in their diet. Foods like curd, butter, carrots, pumpkin should be included.
- • Intake of starchy and sugary food like bread, potatoes, pudding should be avoided.
