The common gout can develop in to chronic gout, in which the joints are severely affected. During chronic gout, the patient experiences a very excruciating pain, which is unbearable. The inflammation swelling and damage to the joints makes it handicapped and non-usable. During these stages, larger aggregates, which are called tophi, are formed in the joints. The cartilages in which these tophi are formed are destroyed.
Then the second among the complications of gout is recurrent gout. Recurrent gout is the stage in which gout attacks occur very frequently. These frequent attacks are troublesome. Each time they occur, they do some damage to the joint. If they keep on occurring this way, they will lead to the destruction of the whole joint.
The complications of gout are not restricted to the affected joints only. Some other important parts some other parts and systems in the body are affected. Kidneys are among the most commonly affected organs. The uric acid starts depositing in the kidneys and gives rise to what is called kidneys stones.
Gout cannot be treated but it can be kept under control. Keeping gout under control will prevent these complications of gout. Therefore, whenever the patient is diagnosed of gout it should be taken seriously. The patient should take medical help. The doctors will suggest several methods as medications, diet, etc to keep gout under control. These should be followed by the patient as long as he wishes to keep gout away.
In addition, the patient should be aware that there is always a chance of development of complications of gout in him. Therefore, he should undergo a regular diagnosis to find out whether any complication has been developed or not. If the complications of gout are detected then it is very crucial that immediate cure or relief measures are taken they would be comparatively simpler at that time than later.
