Cold Sores
Cold sores are small blisters that usually appear on lips and outer edges of the mouth. They are caused by the virus known as herpes. They usually are found after colds, fevers, sun exposures, and other diseases like cancer. But the most common cause is stress. The people suffering from them generally feel tingling or burning sensation. Cold sores can occur at any age or at any time. They are very contagious and doctors usually advice not to come into contact with any other person as they can be easily transmitted. Even the close contact like hugging and kissing can lead to this problem. The symptoms of cold sores generally last for seven to ten days.
The following home remedies are helpful in treating cold sores.

  • Ice is a common remedy for this problem. It should be rubbed on ones skin every hour to give a soothing effect. This will also make the sore smaller and will help to keep virus from spreading .
  • Tea bag can also be applied on the cold sores infected area to get relief.
  • Common salt if applied for 30 seconds gives relief to the person.
  • Salty and acidic food should be reduced in diet. Intake of vitamins like A, C, E should be increased.
  • Garlic famous for its natural effect should be taken regularly.
