Plantar fasciitis is associated with intense heel pain; the pain is generally accompanied by inflammation.  The ligament affected with plantar fascia that is present at the base of the foot when develop tears in the tissue results in intense pain.

The ligament affected with plantar fascia is very flexible; it continuously contracts and relaxes. When you sleep, the ligament tightens so when you get up in the morning and put pressure on the heel the ligament becomes stiff which may result in intense pain.  But as the day progresses the tissue gets warmer and the pain subsides.

Some of the causes of plantar fasciitis are standing continuously for a long period of time, lifting heavy weights, getting involved in intense physical activities and activities which directly affect the feet.   The ligament is able to adjust itself as per the situation but when the load exceeds the normal course then the probability of experiencing pain increases.

Activities like running, jumping and other similar athletic activities are also the major causes of plantar fasciitis. These physical acts may increase the pressure on the tissue which may result in tears of the tissue and cause inflammation.  Those exercising should not abruptly increase or decrease their level of physical activity as the ligament will face difficulty in adjusting itself as per the regime.

Arthritis is considered to be one of the major causes of plantar fasciitis; arthritis causes pain in the joints which can also result in the inflammation of the tendons eventually resulting in plantar fasciitis. Diabetes especially in the elderly people can also cause plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is painful but if you adopt a healthy lifestyle then you will be able to enjoy a pain free life. Consult your doctor and follow his advice, it will help you a lot.
