Diabetes mellitus is a condition where pancreas doesn’t release enough insulin to let the blood absorb glucose. This can only be treated through good diet and oral medication like injecting insulin daily. There are lots of causes of diabetes mellitus detected after some examinations.

Not enough production of insulin that body needed and uncommon but also cause diabetes producing defective insulin is one of the causes of diabetes mellitus that could affect the cells of fat tissues and muscles. This may result in insulin resistance. Lack of insulin may distract process in pancreas.

Drugs are also causes of diabetes mellitus like Dilantin and steroids that may cause increase of sugar in the blood. Thiszide diuretic, alloxan and steptozocin cause toxic in pancreas cells that causes diabetes. Heredity however, is still the main cause of diabetes mellitus. Children with mother of father diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus have strong chances and possibilities of developing Diabetes Mellitus. Type 1 diabetes is the number one effect of heredity. The defect may switch the immune system and then the virus is allowed to damage beta cell. Type 2 diabetes usually occurs on insulin deficiency and insulin resistance. This is also a genetic disease though, genes of the parents carries different chromosomes than type 1 diabetes.

Different explanations that are associated with Diabetes Mellitus are also present to understand why Diabetes Mellitus develops. Some of these explanations are infection caused by virus and bacteria and exposure to food with toxins. Other factors such as increasing and old age, overweight and obesity, sedentary lifestyle or less mobility are also some of the causes that trigger Diabetes Mellitus to develop.

Gestational diabetes may be caused by pregnancy. Accordingly, the new body system that occurs in pregnant women affects the pancreas thereby causing it to produce lesser insulin.

Many believe that eating too much sweet foods cause Diabetes Mellitus to develop. This is not true though sweet foods further worsen the Diabetes Mellitus case. This is the reason why diabetes mellitus diagnosed patients are advised to lessen the intake of sweet foods. Too much sweet foods cause the development of obesity which is one factor for the development of Diabetes Mellitus. Other than that, there is no direct relationship between the sweet foods and the development of Diabetes Mellitus.

Diabetes Mellitus is a life long disease. Knowing and understanding the causes of Diabetes Mellitus will help a person keep himself healthy and away from this life long disease. If you are already diagnosed with one, discipline, regular check-up and constant monitoring of your blood sugar will help you away from the complications of Diabetes Mellitus.
