Arthritis which basically is a condition in which problems arise in the functioning of a particular joint which causes inflammation and damage to bones in that joint. This can occur due to the several reasons such as improper nutrition, infection in the joint, physical damage to the joint and even due to heredity.
Infection is one of the most common causes of arthritis. Infection can cause different types of arthritis such as septic arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Infection can occur to anybody and therefore the arthritis due to infection can occur to anybody. There are various modes through, which infection can reach the joint. The most common among them is the transfer of infection to any other parts of the body especially the joints. This mainly takes place through the blood. Another major cause of infection is a septic wound over the joint. Infection can penetrate through such wounds and reach the joints. Sometimes infection occurs in the surrounding tissues and from there it spreads to the joint.
When infection is among the causes of arthritis initially, the loss occurs in the cartilage. In addition, the infection can affect the secretion of synovial fluid, which plays so crucial role in functioning of the joint. Thus, the lubrication system of the joints is first affected. This causes friction between the bones in that joint. This friction damages the bones and causes inflammation. In addition to this to the lubrication, the infection also may directly affect the bones, muscles, or other parts of joints.
Infection cannot be prevented. However curing it as early as possible may prevent it from spreading to the parts as joints. While treating arthritis when infection is among the causes of arthritis it is important to remove the infection completely from the joint and the whole body. This is done by using antibiotics and analgesics.
Heredity also is associated with arthritis. Heredity accounts for almost 60% of arthritis cases in the world. The types of arthritis, which it can cause, are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gouty arthritis.
When heredity is among the causes of arthritis, nothing can be done to prevent it. Nevertheless, if a person has family history for arthritis it does not necessarily mean that he too, will develop arthritis. Taking right care for the other factors as protection from infections, taking good nutrition, regular exercise, etc can help keep him away from arthritis. Also, doing the right treatment according to the can protect the patient from most of the damage and trouble due to arthritis.
