Causes of Excessive Sweating

A heavy or excessive sweating problem is a very common condition that many people suffer from. The most common areas that are affected by excessive sweat are the palms, armpits, face and the soles of the feet. The causes of excessive sweating may vary for everyone. People who are overweight have a higher tendency to sweat than the others. At times, heavy sweating could indicate a medical condition like thyroid or hyperhidrosis. Unfortunately, hyperhidrosis often goes untreated and undetected mainly because of two reasons. The first is that not many people know the difference between normal and excessive sweating and therefore, they do not even realize that they have a problem. The second reason is that this condition can be quite an embarrassing one for most people, which is why they do not seek professional help.

Treatments for conditions like hyperhidrosis and thyroid can only be prescribed by medical experts. However, there are several remedies that can control excessive sweating. The Sympathetic Nervous System in your body controls the sweat glands and regulates the production of sweat. When the temperature of your body rises, hot bloods flows all the way to your brain, signaling it to increase the flow of blood to your skin and that is when you start sweating. Adopting one-time excessive sweating treatments should be able to control this problem for good, as it does for many people. There are oral medicines that can cure excessive sweating. You could go in for over the counter or prescription drugs and see which suits you. These medicines have an anti cholinergic effect that can block the neurotransmitter that initiates sweating. Injecting Botox into the top layer of the skin, where the sweat glands are present, could also be an effective way to prevent excessive sweating.

In the short term, you could use simple home remedies like apple cider vinegar with honey (only thick, organic, raw kind) and sage tea or other herbs, to control the sweats. There are other things that you can do to prevent the embarrassment of odor caused by excessive sweating. Try to bathe twice a day, using a branded soap, to reduce the bacteria on your skin. Avoid wearing clothes that are tight fitting. Instead wear clothes that are light and loose and which allow air to circulate around your body. Most antiperspirants are also effective to in controlling perspiration to some extent. They contain aluminum chloride solutions that block the sweat ducts on the surface of the skin, which prevents sweating. As sweat can also be triggered off by nervousness and anxiety, try to stay relaxed at all times.
