A bump in the wrong place, a fall or even someone holding you tight can cause a nasty bruise. My child is very prone to bruises and it breaks my heart to see them, though she feels quite like a heroine and often gives me a daily report on each one of them.

To get rid of the marks and even ease the pain I use some very simple home remedies.

One of the most effective is a cold pack; I keep one ready at home. All you need is to mix 3 parts of water to 1 part alcohol, and freeze this liquid in a nylon bag. Apply it to the area as soon as there is a fall or injury, and this will take care of most bruises.
Sometimes for bigger bruises I also use a cloth soaked in confrey root tea and apply it to the bruised area. This reduces pain and discoloration of the skin.
My Chinese friend has a wonderful cure, she mixes one part cayenne pepper to five parts of petroleum jelly. This has to be applied once or twice a day, and even larger bruises vanish fast.

A bruise is basically an internal injury, as the blood from damaged blood vessels beneath the skin, collects near the surface of the skin. Which means it is a good idea to eat the right food that help restore body tissue, such as broccoli or tomatoes rich in vitamin C. Some medical professionals even recommend Vitamin K supplements for serious bruises.

There are times you have to be cautious with a bruise. If you find that that it is not disappearing or if there is a sudden and unexplained bruise get it checked by a medical specialist, it could be a sign of something bigger.

Small everyday bruises that are a part of everyday life, can cured by easy home remedies and a lots of sympathy.
