Breast Sagging
Why do Breast Sag?
With age, a woman’s breasts undergo a lot of changes. Primarily, they lose tissue and subcutaneous fats, thereby reducing in fullness and size. The breasts are not made up of any muscles, but only fat cells and mammary ducts. Because of this, breasts sag easily with the advancement of age and improper support. The skin all over the body loses elasticity, and breasts are no different. The skin loses its ability to support the breasts, because of which they sag and become loose. Other than flattening and sagging, the nipples become inverted too. It’s not just the nipples that are affected, but also the surrounding area (called areola), which either shrinks or disappears. It is also common to lose hair around the nipples. With aging, the nipples also do not respond well to stimulation. The mammary (milk producing) glands decrease in number and get replaced by fats. Lumps also tend to form in the breasts, and are a rather common occurrence when a woman reaches menopause. These lumps usually turn out to be harmless cysts, but the risk of breast cancer is quite high as a woman ages. Because of this, a monthly breast self-examination is recommended. Alternatively, they must consult a doctor for mammograms, as self examination does not identify the early stages of breast cancer. One must also remember that exercising results in weight loss, thus reducing the size of breasts, and gaining weight tends to enlarge them.
How to Tighten Breasts?
There are a few ways in which the breasts can be tightened and toned, thereby delaying their aging and sagging. A woman must include Vitamin C in her diet as it manufactures collagen, which tightens the elasticity of the skin. Include lots of green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits in your platter to get enough Vitamin C. It also helps to massage the breasts in an upward motion with flaxseed oil or Vitamin E oil. Break open the capsules of Vitamin E, apply the oil on your breasts, and massage them. Exercises also tone up and tighten breasts. Swimming is the best exercise for firming breasts. You can also place your palms together at the center of your chest, and slowly inhale and exhale. You must do this exercise regularly for about 15 minutes. Another exercise that will help a woman firm sagging breasts is standing straight and raising your right arm above your head. Slowly move your hand five times in a circle. Repeat with your left hand. Like swimming, doing push-ups is also beneficial for firming sagging breasts.
