Blackhead and Whitehead Remedies
Sebum is a substance that is released by the sebaceous glands. Sebum is an oily liquid that is secreted onto the skin. Sebaceous glands are all over the body except on the soles of your feet or the palms of your hand. The term ‘blackhead’ is given to the liquid that is oozing out of the sebaceous gland and has accumulated in the duct leading to the skin. Because this is open to the air, the sebum will oxidize and turn black in color. Blackheads are not caused by lack of cleanliness on the face. It is due to the composition and quantity of sebum released from the glands which may be triggered by hormones. In contrast, a whitehead is the same sebum liquid which has oozed onto the skin’s surface. This will not be open to the atmosphere and hence the sebum remains white. Commonly, the word pimple is used to describe a whitehead.
Blackheads and whiteheads are symptoms of a skin condition known as acne. They may affect any person but teenagers are generally more vulnerable to this. There are several medical treatments for acne related conditions which may be simple or complicated. However, the best way to deal with acne is to do so using some simple home remedies. These are inexpensive, safe and can be repeated if the condition returns.
Acne has been linked to the diet and lifestyle being followed by people who suffer from it. Generally, doctors agree that certain foods should be included in the diet and certain foods should be avoided. This will help in improving the condition of your skin and thus prevent the development of acne. You must always drink plenty of water. If the water content in your body is high, it will dilute the sebum and reduce the chances of it accumulating. A diet that is rich in fiber, fruits and vegetables is proven to be better for your skin texture. This is because the various vitamins and minerals contained in fruits and vegetables are known to have a positive effect on digestion. Heavy oily foods like fried stuff and red meat are not recommended. Even consumption of chocolates should be moderated. You should wash your face regularly with cool water and a medicated soap. You may also rub a lemon skin on your face to aid with cleaning up the pores. If your skin is particularly oily, wash it more regularly.
