Remedy for Autism:

Autism is a developmental condition that first appears in the early years of a child. This condition is characterized by impairment in social interaction and communication abilities. There is also a marked pattern of repetitive behaviors. Autistic children may experience difficulties in talking and interacting with people. They may not look the person in the eye, while interacting with them. They may display behavior such as needing to arrange pencils in a line, before they are able to pay attention or they may say a sentence repeatedly in order to calm down. In some cases, children with autism are unable to learn how to talk. Certain signs indicative of autism may be observed quite early in the child’s life. These include a delay or a lack of spoken language abilities, repetitive patterns in language or actions, disinterest in relationships with peers, absence of spontaneous play and continued attention on a particular part of an object.

Autism is not caused by a single factor and there may be various aspects to what causes it. Defects in the function and structure of the brain are known to lead to autism. Genetics has also been found to be a strong factor. Research has not found one single gene that is responsible for autism. Combinations of genes may be involved in determining the development of autism. Some medical conditions have been believed to be linked to autism. These disorders include congenital infections, phenylketonuria, genetic conditions, brain disorders and neurological conditions that develop after birth. Environmental triggers are also believed to play a role in autism.

The treatment for autism usually differs with different specialists. The specialist will explain the different types of treatments, along with the advantages and disadvantages. The decision about the treatments is made by the family of the child in consultation with the specialist. Autism does not have a cure and various treatments may differ in their outcomes. Besides, one method of treatment may not work for all. Usually cure for autism involves behavior modification which is targeted at correcting the repetitive or inappropriate behavior. It also serves to teach the child the basic skills they require to operate within the environment. This also involves helping the child to deal with various sensory triggers. Play therapy focuses on the child’s emotional development and social interaction skills. Communication therapy is used to teach the child verbal skills and build language abilities. Medication may also be administered to children with autism. This serves to treat the different symptoms that are part of autism such as anxiety or attention impairment.
