Defective Vision
Our eyes are the most sophisticated sense organs in our body They contain lenses, muscle systems, and tiny light receptors that allow us to see the world we live in. Eye pain or redness and changes in our vision may be signs of a problem that requires medical attention. One such problem is Defective Vision. A symptom of the same is redness of eyes and difficulty in viewing far off objects and requires the attention of a doctor. In medical terms this condition is referred as myopia or short sightedness. Old age people are more prone to this problem.
The main causes of this disease are mental strain, wrong diet and improper blood and nerve supply, reading in dim light and excessive watching of TV.
The following home remedies are helpful in treating defective vision.

    • The person suffering from this problem should increase the intake of Vitamin A as this nutrient is important to night vision. The best source of this vitamin are spinach, milk, cream, cheese, butter, oranges and dates.
    • Triphala, an Ayurvedic preparation is helpful in treating this problem. This mixture can be used for washing the eyes.
    • Another effective treatment is the herb chicory which is one of the richest sources of vitamin A. The consumption of this herb mixed with carrot or celery juice can bring amazing results in correcting eye defects.
    • Natural, uncooked foods are the best diet for the person with this problem. Artificial foods like jam, cakes, pastries etc should be avoided.

Cystitis
Cystitis is a disease of the urinary bladder. Its primarily an infection of the urinary bladder. It is known to affect a person of any sex and at any age, but is most commonly found in women. It is usually caused by a bacteria as it enters the urethra and is commonly known as bacterial urinary tract infection (UTI). It has the potential of becoming a serious health problem if the infection is allowed to spread to the kidney.
The most noticeable symptoms are pain in the pelvis and the lower abdomen, change of color of urine followed by discharge of blood in some cases. In an acute case there may be rise in the body temperature too. Some of the home remedies helpful in treating Cystitis

    * Cucumber juice is one of the most effective home remedies in treating this problem. A cup of this juice mixed with honey and lime juice should be taken several times in a day.
    * The juice of drumstick flowers is another effective home remedy. It can be taken with the glass of coconut water.
    * The radish juice is also very effective and should be taken early in the morning or before going to bed. Lemon juice has also proven to be valuable in cystitis.
    * Drinking lot of water helps to wash out the bacteria and thus the infection. At least eight to ten glasses of water should be taken.

Dark underarms
Dark underarms is often an embarrassing problem faced by people around the world. It gets more embarrassing when a person decides to wear sleeveless top. Usually the first symptoms of of a dark underarms is an itching sensation followed by sweating and then bad odor. Underarms usually look dark due to thick hair under the skin. Excessive growth of hair leads to sweating which in turn causes infection if proper care is not taken. Therefore it is best to shave the hair to keep underarms clean.

The following home remedies are helpful in treating dark underarms.

    * Lemon slices can be rubbed on the armpits. The juice of cucumber mixed with lime juice and a pinch of turmeric powder can be applied on the affected area and left for sometime before washing.
    * A paste made of gram flour, a pinch of turmeric powder and 1tsp of sandalwood powder mixed with lime juice can be applied on the affected area.
    * One can use alum powder instead of deodorants as some of the deodorants causes skin darkening.
    * Baking powder rubbed on the armpits after having a bath gives a benefiting soothing effect.
    * Vitamin E oil can be applied on the armpits. Armpits can be washed with coconut oil too.
    * Cotton clothes are suggested to be worn in order to avoid fungal infection. It is better to wax the armpit instead of shaving as it not only removes the hair but also the dead skin along with it.

Corns
A corn is a localized thickening of the skin. They are one of the most common problems faced by one and all. They can occur at any part of the foot and can turn out to be very painful. To add to the woes, if there is inflammation and swelling around the corn, the suffering is even more. The main cause of this problem is wearing tight or ill fitting shoes or foot wear. They take shades of white, grey or yellow depending on skin type and are not very pleasant to look at either.

There are some home remedies which are helpful in treating the problem of corns :-

    * One should avoid wearing tight and high heeled shoes. People who suffer from this problem should wear socks and should buy appropriate shoes.
    * Pumice stone can be used to reduce the thickness of the corn.
    * Castor oil can be applied on the area where there is a corn. It helps in reducing them.
    * Soaking feet in warm water to which salt is added can help soften the corns and can even reduce the pain.
    * Lemon is a good remedy for treating corns. A fresh slice of lemon should be tied over the corn area and allowed to remain there for the whole night.
    * The juice of papaya can be applied on the corn area as it helps to reduce the corn. The milky juice of green figs is helpful in treating this problem.
    * The person suffering with this problem is advised to have more fruits and vegetables.
