Health advice for backaches

I get backache/pain when I stand for short length of time and when I walk it's unbearable. I have to sit down. I am scared it's cancer or a blood clot. Pain is at bottom of back and right side above the cheek.

Backache is a common ailment faced by a large number of people today. Stress, anxiety, sedentary lifestyles, strenuous work patters, lack of exercise are all various causes of back aches.  In most cases the back ache is concentrated at the center of the back or in the lower back area.

At times the pain may radiate to either side of the waist as well as the hips. In situations where the pain is acute, the patient may have difficulty in sitting or walking and may have to resort to complete bed rest. Ninety percent of the people that experience acute back aches suffer from a condition known as lumbar spondylosis. This degenerative disorder is caused when the vertebrae begin to stick to one another reducing the flexibility of the spine. The main causes of spondylosis and back ache are poor posture, muscular tension, improper nutrition and the straining of one’s joints. Other reasons that may cause a back pain are prostrate problems, kidney problems, arthritis and using high heeled shoes.

Back pain can be reduced considerably with the help of a few home remedies. Lemon juice works well for back aches. To one glass of lemon juice add a pinch of common salt and then drink. This should be 2-3 times a day in order to reduce pain. Heat a bowl of water and dip a soft cotton cloth into the water. Squeeze the water from the cloth and then place it on the area that is experiencing pain for 2-3 minutes. This procedure has to be repeated several times and will be helpful in reducing pain considerably.

Warm a table spoon of eucalyptus oil and gently massage the oil on the affected areas of the back. This will have a soothing effect and will alleviate the pain as well. You could also massage your back with mint oil in a similar manner. Consume food that is rich in Vitamin C. the individual should have citrus fruits such as oranges, as they are a good source of this vitamin. Vegetables such as cucumber, cabbage, carrot, tomato, spinach and radish should be included in the diet. Fresh fruits and juices are a must. Exercise for at least 15 minutes a day. This will be very beneficial. Yoga in fact, is considered to be very useful, when it comes to treating backaches. If your condition does not improve and the pain does not subside, then consulting a physician is highly recommended.
