Only you can determine how to best lose weight --depending upon your general state of health, your reasons for wanting to lose weight and the underlying cause(s) for excess weight. Since there is a significant mental/emotional component to body image, your reasons for weight loss would need to be explored in detail to develop an individualized program for success. It's not always just food choices and lifestyle --sometimes people inherit some physiological predispositions or have endocrine imbalances which make it very difficult to lose weight. When I work with patients who wish to lose weight --certainly diet (food choices) and exercise (aerobic and strength training) are key variables. My goal tends to be to help them achieve better health --and weight loss is simply one result. Lab tests are often relevant in establishing a baseline and identifying underlying health conditions which may need to be addressed during the weight loss process. Being healthy at any weight is a challenge, and requires both knowledge and discipline in making the right lifestyle choices to benefit your body. For most people, they need help and support to do this. Please consult a qualified health care practitioner to help you in this process. The first step is the desire to change, then taking action.
