Natural remedies for Head lice

Head lice are extremely persistent and hard to get rid off, but there as a good chance that using a couple of home remedies and taking some general precautions will be successful in solving the problem. However, if you find that this does not work, it is best to use one of the medicated shampoos available over the counter. Herbal shampoos are also available for treating lice infestations, so you can use one of these if you like.

To get rid of lice at home, you should wash your hair with a solution of vinegar and water. Apply this solution before and after shampooing your hair normally, and leave it in for at least five minutes each time. You can also apply a thick paste to suffocate the lice — olive oil or petroleum jelly can be quite effective here, although somewhat difficult to get out of the hair later.

This needs to be kept on for at least half an hour, in fact preferably for an hour. Make sure that you coat your hair and scalp completely. After you wash your hair, use a louse comb. The treatment should be repeated once every five days, except for the louse comb, which you can use daily.

In addition, you should be sure to change all clothing, bedding, and combs or brushes regularly, in particular each time you use the treatment described.
