Advice for body rash A rash can be caused by a large number of problems, and it is best to have a doctor examine you and then diagnose the problem. If your family doctor is unable to help, you should visit a dermatologist. In some cases, a rash may be a condition that has affected the skin itself — fungal infections such as ringworm are examples of this. However, sometimes a rash is only a symptom of some other disease or condition, such as measles and some autoimmune disorders. In some cases, the appearance of a rash might actually be an emergency situation — this is the case with a hemorrhagic rash, in which capillaries under the skin burst.
It is not clear why the rash would itch in some areas and not in others. In any case, in general, you should avoid scratching yourself. Scratching contributes to the spread of a rash and can also result in breaking of the skin. If the itch is severe, you can lightly rub the area, and wash your hands after this. Without knowing the cause of the rash, there is not much else that you can do. Applying fresh aloe vera gel might provide some relief, but other home remedies will work only for some rashes and end up aggravating others.
