Remedies for cough

The best place to get rid of a cough is the kitchen. You can begin with grape juice, an excellent expectorant which will clear up the lungs. Drink a cup of grape juice at room temperature with a teaspoon of honey and a dash of ginger juice added to it thrice a day.

Alternately, you can also have a cup of onion juice with two tablespoons of honey and a dash of ginger juice. Onion juice will remove phlegm from the system. Make green tea with a teaspoon of aniseed, a couple of cloves, cardamoms, crushed peppercorns and a small piece of crushed ginger added to it.

This is an excellent cough suppressant and can be had up to thrice a day. Sucking on a piece of dry ginger all day will also relieve coughing. You can also make herbal tea with holy basil leaves added to suppress cough. A pinch of freshly ground black pepper mixed with a teaspoon each of honey and lime juice will reduce racking cough. You must have a tall glass of hot milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a teaspoon of honey added to it before bedtime. The turmeric will work all night to heal your throat and the honey will provide relief, giving you a night's peaceful sleep. Warm carrot juice is a tried and tested remedy to help relieve dry cough. While you have a cough, you must avoid consuming sugar, as this will only worsen it.
