High blood pressure is one of the most common medical ailments in the world today. The condition is greatly aggravated by the stress and pressures of the kind of lives that most people lead today. However, the condition is known as a silent killer because of the fact that, more often than not, there are absolutely no symptoms to help diagnose its presence.
In most cases, a patient will only find out that they are affected by it when they go for a routine health check up. If symptoms are present, they usually take the shape of a sharp pain the back of the neck when you wake up in the morning that will disappear on its own over the course of the day as well as considerable dizziness and palpitations of the heart. Other common symptoms include fatigue, difficulty in breathing and frequent urination. The condition may become considerably worse if the patient has a habit of excessive smoking or intake of tea, coffee, and refined foods, as they play a significant role in the hardening of the arteries. Blood pressure is measured with the help of two readings written as a fraction. The number written first is the peak blood pressure taken at the time the heart muscle is contracted in order to squeeze the blood out, while the second number denotes the pressure taken at the time the heart muscle is in a state of rest and relaxed. A reading of 120/80 or lower is considered to be normal while anything above 140/90 is considered to be high blood pressure.
The treatment of high blood pressure is normally achieved by adjusting your lifestyle to make sure the condition does not have a debilitating effect on your body. Garlic is considered to be one of the best and most effective means of treating hypertension and helps reduce the spasms in the small arteries. Garlic also help slow down the heart rate and alleviates the related symptoms of high blood pressure. You could also try drinking a combination of carrot and spinach juice in the ratios of 300 ml of carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice, on a daily basis. Drinking this twice a day – morning and evening – would prove to be considerably effective. In addition to the well balanced diet, a person suffering from the condition must also make it a point to follow a strict exercise regime to get the best results.
