Question on sore throat
My son often has a sore throat, he does not have his tonsils, could it be allergies? He doesn't have a fever.

When you write that your son does not have tonsils, I am assuming that it is because he was having problems with infected, swollen tonsils and had surgery. The tonsils are our body’s first line of defense when we come into contact with bacteria, viruses and allergens via the mouth. While your son’s tonsils may be gone, the irritant that is affecting him has not and you need to look at boosting your son’s immune system, while removing any allergens from his environment.
Dust, dog and cat hair and dust mites are common triggers for an allergic reaction, as is pollens and grasses. Doing some detective work to see what could be causing his throat to become inflamed is your first step; take notice of what preempts his sore throat, such as child care, playing in the yard, or certain foods or specific times of the year. A good herbal treatment for sore throat that will also boost his immunity is:
Echinacea 20ml Andrographis 20ml Fenugreek 20ml Marshmallow Root 20ml Calendula 20ml
Note: The dose for a child under two years should be monitored closely with a maximum dose of six drops three times daily in juice to sweeten the taste as these herbs can taste very bitter.
For children over two 1ml three times daily and adults and children over 12 years can take 2ml three times daily. Chewable Vitamin C tablets with bioflavenoids are good too and can reduce the frequency and severity of throat irritations; but remember to get your son to rinse his mouth after as they can be quite damaging to the tooth enamel.
