Spider bites and Home remedies may not be a good combination. Death from spider bites in recent years is uncommon; especially in countries like Australia, where the advent of anti venoms has been very successful. Anti venoms are only available to you upon presentation to hospital though and if you have been bitten by a spider, catching the spider and putting it into a container is invaluable as it will be able to be identified by the attending medic. If you can do this you will save yourself the problem of describing the spider and make it easier to select the anti venom treatment. There are charts available that you can have on hand to identify which spiders require anti venom and which ones don’t.
However, remembering that where you live may not have venomous spiders, the best treatment in this instance is to wash the area with soap and water, apply a topical antiseptic and monitor the wound. If the wound is not healing, or you are experiencing other symptoms of spider bite, such as fever, nausea, dizziness and pain, it is best to be reviewed by your medical practitioner.
