Home remedies for high blood pressure

Suggest me a home remedy to cure high blood pressure
( 5 Oct 2007)

When your heart beats, it exerts force to pump the blood into the large arteries. This force creates a pressure within the arteries, and is called blood pressure. We need a specific level of blood pressure to allow the blood to circulate properly in the body.

However, when this pressure becomes too high and the small blood vessels narrow even more, it results in what is known as high blood pressure or hypertension. This silent killer, as hypertension is often called, can lead to many serious problems like heart disease, and affects our vital organs. Stress, fatigue, and tension are among the greatest troublemakers that cause hypertension. Obesity, high intake of salt, and a sedentary lifestyle also cause high blood pressure.

To tackle this problem, you must keep yourself as relaxed as possible, avoid getting overworked, get regular light exercise for about half an hour each day, and eat healthy to keep your blood pressure normal. A good way to relax would be by doing some deep breathing exercises, meditating, and soaking in a bathtub with a few drops of sandalwood oil or lavender oil for about 20 minutes everyday. Even if you go for a walk, jog, or swim for 30 minutes regularly, it will help you keep hypertension and other associated diseases at bay. You must avoid salt as much as possible, and consume lots of fresh fruits, raw vegetables, and green leafy vegetables.

There are many other remedies to lower blood pressure. One of them is chewing on three cloves of garlic daily. Garlic reduces contraction of the small arteries, regularizes the pulse rate and heart rhythm, and relieves many of the symptoms of hypertension. Vitamin C also controls blood pressure effectively, and you can get the nutrient from citrus fruits like orange and lemon. If you consume orange juice everyday or consume oranges on an empty stomach every morning, it will help to normalize your blood pressure. Vitamin P strengthens capillaries and tones arteries; you can get this nutrient from lemon and grapefruit. Consume these foods regularly to control hypertension. Consuming rice would also be beneficial, as it is low in fat and cholesterol. Opt for brown rice in particular, since it is rich in fiber and the calcium content in it will relax the nervous system and relieve the symptoms of hypertension. Carrot juice and spinach juice are also very beneficial for sufferers of hypertension. You can take them separately or mix 300 ml of carrot juice with 200 ml of spinach juice, and take the entire amount daily. Alternatively, you can take one glass of either of the juices twice daily.
