Alternative remedy for GERD

Inflammation and irritation of the esophagus, resulting in regurgitation of the acidic contents is referred to as gastro esophageal reflux (GERD). Gastro esophageal reflux (GERD) in infants is common. Generally, children overcome the same by the end of the first year. The reflux which fails to subside or reduce by the first birthday is reflux. Allowing the infant to burp several times, during the feed is an easy and effective way to overcome GERD. Placing the child in an upright position for at least half an hour also helps. In case of elder children, smaller and timely meals are recommended. Foods, such as chocolate, soda, acidic foods and spicy foods are avoided in individuals with GERD. Proton pump inhibitors, promotility agents and coating agents are methods of treatment, recommended by physicians. Attention is needed, when GERD disrupts the child’s sleep. A child of two months is too young to be put on home remedies. Take the guidance of your paediatrician and gastroenterologist at the earliest possible. More tips on overcoming gastro esophageal reflux (GERD) in infants is available.
