Natural remedy for weight gain

How to gain weight please
( 3 Oct 2007)

Being underweight is a very common problem that is faced by a large number of people these days. This condition is brought about when an individual’s weight is not in sync with his/her height. When a person’s weight is 10-20 % below the normal average, the person is considered to be underweight.

This kind of a condition can be due to poor nutrition, increase in stress levels, inadequate sleep, genetics and a lack of exercise. Along with being skinny, an underweight person can also face a large number of health related problems. Gaining weight however is not very hard to achieve and this can be done by adopting the right eating habits.

Here are few remedies that will help you add on a few more calories. Bananas are very helpful when it comes to gaining weight. This fruit can be had in the form of a milkshake 2-3 times a day or one can simply eat 3-4 bananas a day, followed by a glass of milk. This will help in increasing one’s weight. Increase the consumption of fatty foods like rice, potatoes, flour, dates, figs, raisins, germinated wheat, and butter. A spoonful of raisins if had daily will also help in adding on some pounds. Immerse 5-6 figs in a glass of water and leave it over night. They should be consumed the next day, half in the morning ad the other half in the evening. Soaking almonds overnight in water is also known to help in putting on weight and they should be consumed in the same manner as the figs. Add a few dates and almonds to a cup of milk. Boil the milk for 5 minutes and then let it cool till it is warm enough to be had. This is another very effective remedy to put on weight.

Another very popular remedy to cure the problem of being underweight is consuming a lot of fruits with milk. While the milk will provide your body with protein, the fruits will help in nourishing it. Have a glass of warm milk that has had a spoonful of honey added to it, just before bedtime. Musk lemon if had three times in a day will also help you in gaining weight. Dairy products such as cheese, butter, yogurt and milk should be had regularly as they will help to a very large extent. Finally try and avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety, a healthy mind in turn will equate to a healthy body.

Natural remedy for weight gain

Weight gain is recommended, based on the age, physical activity and body mass index of an individual. Increase in caloric consumption helps in increasing weight. It might take some time. Avoid junk foods and go in for high calorie foods. Milk shakes, dry fruits, yoghurt and breakfast bars are to name a few. Health drinks, milk and fresh juices also contribute. Eat at least 5 meals a day, if you are unsuccessful in eating larger meals. Building up muscles is a safe way to increase weight. Pull ups, dumbbells, bench presses and dead lifts help in muscle building. Fish, eggs and meat are preferred more than vegetables. Dietary supplements help in weight gain. A physician's guidance is recommended, before going in for anything unnatural. Maintenance of a food diary helps in keeping track of highly nutritious and calorific foods. Baked fish and baked chicken can be opted for, instead of fish fries and chicken nuggets. Take the help of a nutritionist to get individualised help, as insufficient information regarding your present dietary pattern is available. Vegetables are equally important in contributing vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Visit a previously answered question on weight gain.
