 Toothache remedies

Toothache indicates the presence of infection, breakage or tooth decay. In cases of slightest infection, visit to a dentist proves fruitful. Home remedies provide temporary relief.


Placing a slice of onion in the affected area helps. Ice compress is also effective in relieving pain and inflammation. Alcohol based mouth wash or hydrogen peroxide aid in toothache relief.


Clove oil and garlic are age old remedies providing immediate and long lasting relief. Massaging with the hands on the affected area creates warmth and pressure. Over-the-counter painkillers are also equally helpful. Dental flossing is vital in good oral care. Gargling with warm salt water is helpful. One or two cloves are chewed upon to bring immediate relief. Juice of star fruit is an effective pain killer. Few drops of vanilla extract on the affected tooth is helpful. Chewing a small piece of ginger provides pain relief. Pour a few drops of peppermint mouthwash. Oregano oil on the paining tooth helps. Listerine mouthwash is also equally effective. Dab a cotton ball in asafoetida paste made with lime juice. It relieves pain instantly.
