Natural Remedies for Hemorrhoids

Cure for Hemorrhoids.
( 3 Oct 2007)

Hemorrhoids or piles as it is more commonly known as, is a swelling or inflammation of the veins inside, outside or around or rectum. Internal hemorrhoids cannot be felt or seen unless they are very severe. External hemorrhoids on the other hand, can be seen and felt as well.

This condition has been linked to constipation, pregnancy and straining during bowel movements, which lead to an increased pressure being applied in these hemorrhoid veins, making them swell up. Liver disease at times may also create pressure on these veins, creating hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids are usually not painful and are characterized by painless bleeding during bowel movements. External hemorrhoids can cause a lot of pain and discomfort during bowel movements and at times, the individual may even face a difficulty in sitting. The general symptoms of this condition include burning sensation, itching, presence of blood in stool or on the toilet paper, pain and a soft tissue or lump that protrudes out of the anus.

This condition can be tackled by following a few simple home remedies. Dry figs are an excellent remedy for treating this condition. Take about 4-5 figs and soak them in a glass of water overnight. The next morning, the first thing you will need to do immediately after waking is, consume both the figs and the water that they were soaked in. Grind some radish into a fine paste and mix it with a tablespoon of milk. Apply this mixture onto the inflamed area; it will help gain relief from any itching or burning sensation. Make a mixture from half a teaspoon each of lime juice, ginger juice, crushed mint leaves and a tablespoon of honey. This should be had once a day. Another very effective remedy is to add one ripe mashed banana to a cup of boiled milk. This needs be had at least 2-3 times in a day to help cure this problem.

White radish is considered to be useful for curing piles. The juice of white radish with a hint of salt, if had daily will be beneficial. The vegetable can also be grated and mixed with a spoon of honey and then had, this will work equally well. Apply a cold compress to the rectal area, about half an hour before bedtime. This will have a soothing effect and will alleviate the pain. A paste made from cumin seeds and water can also be applied to the affected area to reduce pain.
