Natural cures for fingernail fungus

Fingernail fungus is a fairly common problem. It may lead to discolored or even distorted nails, if left unchecked. Soak your nails in a solution of equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide.

This will help clean the surface and lighten the color of your nails. You may also use vinegar for the same purpose. The acidity of these substances will help kill surface bacteria and mildly bleach your nails.

After following this procedure, it is important to wash your hands with soap and water and apply a generous layer of cream so as to avoid dehydrating your hands and skin. Using lime is also another highly effectively way of lightening the color of your nails. If your nails have turned brown, a soak in diluted bleach may also be required. But make sure that it is one part bleach to at least 20 parts water, or else it may adversely affect your skin. For fungal infections, it is believed that tea tree oil works best. Apply it in thick layers under your toenails before bedtime and wear thick cotton socks to bed. This oil will work overnight to destroy the fungus and improve the appearance of your nails at the same time.
