Treatment for uvula
A swollen uvula provides more discomfort than being a real problem. If you have had this condition for more than a month, you need to get a medical opinion and eliminate the possibility of anything serious. For immediate relief, you can chew on some ice chips and have chilled water slowly.
The coldness will numb the pain and discomfort temporarily. If you also have a cold at the same time, however, you can avoid the ice and drink hot water to soothe the irritation. Warm salt water gargles are a good temporary measure to provide relief.
You can repeat the gargles about four or five times a day if so desired. If you have a cold, you can also add a pinch of turmeric to the water. This will help heal the throat and cure your cold as well. For soothing the throat, you may also trickle honey down it, a teaspoon at a time. Honey has therapeutic properties, and it will help heal by just touching the affected area. Chewing garlic is a slow remedy, it may take about a week or more to work, but it will be a permanent cure. Fresh onion juice will also help with healing. If you can get it, fresh aloe vera gel is an excellent remedy. Squeezed fresh from the leaf, it can be had straight. Tea made with holy basil leaves crushed in it will help greatly in healing and bringing down the swelling.
