Skipped period:
There are many reasons for a skipped period, being on birth control pills and stress is two of them. Birth control pills are usually available in a pack of 21 pills or a pack of 28 pills. A pack of 28 pills contains 21 pills that are active ones.
These pills contain hormones which suppress your fertility. The remaining7 pills are inactive. The bleeding that occurs when you are taking the 7 inactive pills is considered your period. If you do not take these 7 inactive pills and start a new pack immediately, then, you will not have this withdrawal bleeding and it can be considered a skipped period.
Reasons for missed period:
Besides pregnancy, there are several reasons for a missed period. Some of the most common causes include an underlying illness. This could be diabetes, liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, or even tuberculosis. All these diseases could lead to irregular periods. Another possible reason could be Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This syndrome occurs due a hormonal disorder and small cysts form in the ovaries. This leads to an irregular menstrual cycle as well. Being on the pill is yet another cause for a missed period. This could be due to the fact that the pill is low in estrogen. This is a common occurrence, especially with women who have changed from one type of birth control pill to another, or if they have just started using the pill. Progesterone only birth control pills are often the cause of missed periods.
Missed periods but not pregnant:
What are the possible reasons for causes for missed periods, when you are not pregnant? Here are some more reasons apart from the ones listed above. Do keep in mind that most women have about 11 to 13 menstrual periods a year. Some may have more than this, some may have less. You will need to work out what is a normal for you. Remember that periods are irregular as you approach menopause. Excessive weight gain or excessive weight loss can also lead to irregular or missed periods. Obesity is often linked to menstrual problems as well. Certain birth control pills can also result in skipped periods.

Or you can try a decoction of sesame and cumin seeds. Sweeten this with jaggery.

For instance, if you have been working a day shift and then suddenly shift to a night shift or vice versa. Miscalculation is often another reason for a missed period. Most women have a 28 day menstrual cycle. However, this is not the same for everyone. Many women think they have missed a period, when in fact, they have simply miscalculated the date incorrectly. Peri Menopause is another time when periods can be less frequent.
