Hair loss (alopecia) is actually a pretty common condition that affects both men and women. It refers to the gradual shedding of hair from the scalp, which can progress to complete baldness. There are many factors that can lead to an individual developing alopecia.
These include natural reasons such as a hormonal imbalance, or external factors such as physical damage or mental stress. Hair loss can also be a symptom of a more serious medical condition, including immune system disorders, fungal infections, and certain chronic diseases. Since you have not provided any details about how and when you started to lose your hair, it is advisable to visit a doctor for a professional diagnosis. An important factor your doctor will study is the pattern of hair loss. For example, if you have begun to lose hair from the forehead and top of your head, you may have a common condition called androgenic alopecia. This is also referred to as ‘male pattern baldness’ though it can occur in women as well. This is a genetic condition where the hormone testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by certain enzymes. DTH has a negative effect on the hair follicles (roots) and causes them to shrink, preventing normal hair growth.
In the absence of more information on your hair loss, it is difficult to suggest a detailed treatment. However, there are several remedies that will help improve the overall health and strength of your hair follicles and scalp, which could strengthen your hair and reduce the hair fall. An extremely easy remedy is a simple head massage. You can use natural oils (such as olive, mustard, or coconut) and warm them before use. Patients have also reported good results with evening primrose oil and flaxseed oil, both of which are rich in beneficial omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Other people have tried essential oils of herbs such as lavender, sage, thyme, and rosemary. In all these cases, a gentle massage can revitalize the scalp and increase blood flow to the hair follicles.
There are reports that suggest that caffeine can help stimulate hair growth by nourishing the roots. Ideally, you should look for a mild shampoo that contains caffeine. You can also modify your diet to ensure you get plenty of important minerals, including zinc, magnesium, and iron, and vitamins such as A, B, C, and vitamin E. If you feel stressed out, include at least 20 minutes of ‘quiet time’ in your daily routine.

Hair loss remedies
Hair care is vital, as hair improves the personality of an individual. Well groomed hair speaks volumes about the person. Regular washing of hair with a natural shampoo, followed by a conditioner prevents hair from falling. The brush and comb used are also equally important. Cleaning these accessories is as important as washing hair. A well balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits and fluids help in achievement of good and shiny hair. Deficiencies in the diet with a poor lifestyle, such as smoking, drinking and consumption of junk foods result in hair loss. Massage with warm coconut oil is beneficial. Olive oil is equally effective, as it also provides remedy from dandruff. Rinse the hair with a cup of warm water with two teaspoons of lemon juice in it. It adds shine and bounce to the hair. A mixture of coconut oil, lime juice and almond oil, massaged on the scalp yields fruitful results. A teaspoon of camphor added to a cup of coconut oil is massaged and left overnight. Avoid combing hair, immediately after a hair wash. Coconut milk massage nourishes the roots and leaves the scalp clean. For more information on combating hair loss you can read our article.
