Wrist pain is a common and growing problem for a number of people today. To get a complete and proper picture of the reasons for pain in the wrist, one should understand the structure of the wrist. The wrist is made up of 8 small bones that are held together by ligaments.
There are also a number of muscles, nerves, tendons and blood vessels passing through the wrist in order to supply the hand. In case there is a sudden compression of the nerves that go to the arm and wrist at any point after they leave the spinal cord around the neck, one may experience acute and severe pain. The pain will vary in degree depending largely on how much strain has been built up. The patient may suffer tremendously or even have their entire daily schedule disrupted by the wrist pain. The fact that so much work is accomplished with the use of the hands makes performing even the most basic of tasks quite troublesome. While one of the most common causes of wrist pain is carpal tunnel syndrome, where significant compression or entrapment occurs to the medical nerve, medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and gout can also increase the likelihood of wrist pain.
If the wrist pain seems to debilitate your schedule tremendously, it is important to take special care and avoid overworking your wrists in order to minimize the pain. Allow your wrists to get as much rest as possible. You may also want to correctly identify the underlying cause of the problem. If the underlying cause is some kind of medical condition, such as arthritis, ask your diagnosing doctor or the best type of medication to deal with the pain and swelling, if any. If you notice that performing a specific task is the main culprit in the occurrence of wrist pain, try using a different technique or even performing the task for a shorter duration. Stretch your muscles before performing a task that involves the use of muscles in your hands and wrists so as to loosen them and get them ready for the physical activity that they are about to perform. You could also try combining some peppermint oil with any other type of oil in about 2 parts peppermint oil and 4 parts the other oil. Rub this mixture into your wrist and you will notice the pain subside significantly after some time.

The one thing I can think to suggest you examine is perhaps tendonitis or something to that affect.
