Information on neuritis

Neuritis is medically defined simply as an inflammation of the nerves. It is a problem that usually affects the eye area. This is a condition typically accompanied with pain and tenderness, retarded reflexes and loss of sensation in certain parts of affected areas.

In severe cases, there may also be a certain amount of muscular atrophy. If the condition is too serious, this atrophy may be irreversible as well. Patients may also experience blurred vision in certain extreme cases of another kind.

While neuritis is mostly a condition that affects the eye area, it is not uncommon for it to affect any part of the body. Nerves can get inflamed anywhere. It is a matter of how extensively they are strained. But for an inflammation to stretch from the eye to the jaw, while is certainly possible, it is probably extremely rare. Only a medical examination can actually determine whether there is any connection between neuritis and any kind of trouble that is affecting the lower jaw. In all probability, extensive tests, scans and examinations would be required to determine whether there is a connection between the two problems. Medical opinion is of utmost importance in this condition, and it must be sought as soon as possible.
