Natural remedies for inner ear infection

An infection of any kind should always be examined and treated by a doctor. Failing to do so may result in a bigger or more serious problem. Home remedies can provide relief from symptoms, but they may be unable to cure the infection completely.

Ear infections are usually brought on by extreme cold, so it is a good idea to keep the ears closed against extreme cold. If you do not have woollen wear for ears, you may also simply put cotton in them. This will help considerably in keeping the cold out. Apply warm packs or a warm washcloth on the outside of the infected ear. This will give relief from the pressure and pain. Make a simple pack by pouring raw rice into a sock and microwaving it till it warms. Drinking large gulps of water helps use inner ear muscles so they remain flexible and do not slacken when you have an infection. If you are a swimmer, you may have contracted Swimmer's Ear, a fungal infection. Pour a mix of equal parts vinegar and water down the ear and stay in the posture for 20 minutes. You will feel the vinegar acting in your ear. You can also use the juice of one lime or fresh garlic juice. But make sure it is out of the ear within a few hours.
