Remedies for common cold
A cold is one of the most common ailments and you will find that most people suffer from it several times a year. Colds are usually caused by an infection that attacks your body. The symptoms of a common cold are running nose, body pains and sometimes even a light fever.
Some times people experience a blocked nose. All these symptoms ensure that you are not at your best. You feel definitely under the weather and disinclined to do anything.
Sometimes a cold can be accompanied by a sore throat too. Sometimes a cold is indicative of other ailments. That is why you should visit a doctor if your cold persists for days and shows no signs of reducing. People catch a cold because of a sudden change in the temperature, or because they are allergic to certain products.
Inhaling steam can usually help clear a blocked nose. Most people simply inhale the steam from a pot of boiled water. Some others find that adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil helps too. Drinking hot water and lemon and honey is another way to ease the throat. Gargling with warm water to which some salt has been added helps the throat. You should avoid eating fried food and instead drink a lot of soups. Wrap up warm when you go out in the cold and use a hot water bottle to comfort you at night.
