There are many reasons for hair loss other than heredity. If you have started losing hair rapidly and recently, it could be because of stress, poor blood circulation to the scalp, dandruff, overuse of harmful chemicals in shampoos and conditioners, extreme weather, or excessive use of styling equipment like blow dryers and irons. If you eliminate all these factors from your life, your hair loss will be controlled to a great extent.
There are some tips that you need to follow to ensure that your hair remains healthy at all times. Firstly, the scalp gets nutrition from the blood stream, so make sure that you get all the necessary nutrients, especially vitamins, proteins, and minerals from a healthy and balanced diet. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits and raw vegetables. Also, drink lots of water everyday to keep your scalp and hair hydrated. Do not wash your hair every day; wash it about thrice a week. You must also not wash your hair with hot water, as it strips the hair of its moisture and oil, making it weak and brittle. Use a mild herbal shampoo to wash your hair. Get adequate exercise and sleep. Lack of sleep and stress also cause hair fall. Protect your hair from the sun and pollution by covering your head while stepping out. Oil your hair about thrice a week and always use a conditioner after every shampoo. All these measures will control the hair fall effectively.
It’s very important that you provide your scalp with nourishment to strengthen the hair from its roots. For that, you can heat a mix of coconut oil, olive oil, and castor oil and massage it into your scalp thoroughly at night. Leave the oil on overnight, and wash it off the next morning. Alternatively, you can also apply warm oil and wrap a hot towel around your head, and then let it stay for 20 minutes before washing your hair. Massaging the scalp with almond oil about thrice a day will also prevent hair fall. Make a paste of equal amounts of ground lime seeds and black pepper mixed with water, and apply it on your scalp regularly to stop hair from falling. Also, to improve your blood circulation, massage your hair everyday for at least 15 minutes. You do not have to apply oil every time, a simple massage will do. A paste made of lukewarm olive oil, one teaspoon cinnamon powder, and honey can also be applied and left for 15 minutes before taking a shower.

Natural remedies for hair loss
- Soak fenugreek in a pot of water overnight. Strain and massage it in your scalp. Wrap your head with a cloth and leave it for about three hours. Continue this for a month.
- Separate egg yolk and apply it raw on the scalp. Wash it after and hour.
- Mix two tablespoons of henna powder in one tablespoon of curd, ½ teaspoon of lemon juice and 1/4th cup of boiled tea. Apply this paste to your scalp. Your hair may become red due to the effects of henna. If you do not want the color, you may apply any hair oil first and then spread the paste on your scalp. Do this every week for at least a month.
- Daub castor oil to the roots, wrap your head with a cloth and wash it in the morning. Repeat this process weekly and its positive effects could be seen after about two months.
- Add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds in boiling water. Cook it for 5-7 minutes. Let it cool and drink it at once.
- Rubbing olive oil can also prevent hair loss.
- Bleach scented geranium leaves in boiling water. Strain it and leave it to cool. Use this solution to wash your hair.
