Home treatment for eye sty

  • Rub 1 clove spice in water and rub it over your stye. This will provide relief from pain.
  • To reduce swelling, use a poultice of grated potato.


  • Take an Aloe Vera leaf, slit it vertically and place its pulpy side on the soreness.
  • Boil 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in 1 cup of water. Wash your eyes with this solution 2 to 3 times a day.


  • Dissolve 2 or 3 granules of alum in 1 cup of water and wash your eyes with it.
  • In 2 cups of water, boil 1 teaspoon of turmeric till the mixture is reduced to half its amount. Then strain it 3 -4 times through a fine muslin cloth. Put 1 drop in each eye thrice daily.
  • Warm a few guava leaves and wrap it up in a damp cloth. Use this it as a compress to help reduce pain and swelling.
  • Apply boiled acacia leaves to the eyelids.
  • Dip a teabag in warm water and press the sty with it for a few minutes.
  • Never put your fingers in the infected eye and do not share your eye make-up or towels with others.
  • Dandelion tea kills the bacteria that cause sties.
  • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over fresh parsley leaves and leave it for 8-10 minutes. Soak a soft cotton cloth in it and apply it to your eyes. It reduces puffiness and swelling.
