Hemorrhoids are also known as piles. Person suffering from hemorrhoids experience pain, bleeding and itching and may suffer from mental distress. The veins and tissue around the lower rectum and around the anus becomes swollen and inflamed.
The hemorrhoid vessels become enlarged and may lose their elasticity. Both men and women may suffer from hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids occur due to genetic factor, advancing age, pregnancy, constipation, strain due to standing for long period of time, vomiting, alcohol and tobacco use, lack of sleep, lifting too heavy objects.
Natural treatment that can be useful for hemorrhoids are:
- Drink lots of water to soften the stools and regularize the bowel movements. Have more of fibre foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereals and pulses for softer stools. Avoid excessive consumption of tea and coffee or oily and spicy foods.
- Bathe in a tub containing warm water. This will soothe the pain and discomfort.
- Aloe forex can be a natural stool softener and can be used for constipation. Aloe can also be used for digestive problems.
- Ginkgo biloba and Gotu cola can assist in relieving itching and discomfort due to hemorrhoids.
- Maintain a scheduled time for defecation. This will reduce the pressure on the rectum. Wear cotton under wears and comfortable clothing. After bowel movement, clean the anus properly with water or toilet paper.
