Treatment for ear cyst
Ear cysts are growths of dead skin cells and oils secreted by oil glands which develop into sacs filled with tissues or liquid. While the exact cause for ear cysts has not yet been identified, it would be a fairly accurate diagnosis to say that they occur when there is excessive production of oils and it becomes impossible for the excretion to take place through the gland. These cysts are usually not cancerous and thus don't really pose a serious threat.
However they can be very painful, if they get infected in which case they patient may also suffer from inflammation and fever.
Ear oils are generally not advised in case of any growth in the ear and it is best to take medication to eliminate the formation of such cysts. If the cyst becomes painful or is obstructing the ear canal, then surgery is recommended.
Generally a course of antibiotics is prescribed before removal of the cyst, which has to be complete. If the cyst has occurred due to overgrowth of tissue in the upper throat, then surgery to remove the tissue helps prevent reoccurrence. In some cases the cyst is formed due to problems with ear drainage tubes, which also involves surgery. It is also advised to eliminate allergies, ear infections and chronic sinus infections to prevent occurrence of such cysts.
