A toothache can lead to soreness, pain, or discomfort either in or around the tooth. It is an extremely painful condition but fortunately, there are many home remedies you can use to relieve a toothache. Read on to find out more.
- Use dried peppermint leaves: Peppermint has a two fold action in treating a toothache. It acts as a painkiller and can also bring an abscess to the upper part if there is an abscess present. Simply hold some dried peppermint leaves on the affected tooth for about 15 minutes.
- You can also use fresh peppermint. Take half a tablespoon of salt, add 5 grams of fresh peppermint, and boil this mixture in one cup of water. Drink this solution once it cools down and is lukewarm.
- Make a mixture of crushed clove and peanut butter. Apply this mixture to the tooth and leave it on from some time.
- Cucumber: Take a chilled cucumber and cut it into round slices. Hold these slices in and around the painful tooth. This home remedy for toothache will help to ease the pain.
- If there is an abscess on the affected tooth, applying oats will help to draw out the puss and reduce the pain.
- Vanilla extract is also useful for treating a toothache. Simply soak a cotton ball in vanilla extract and put the cotton ball directly on the tooth for a while. It will help to relieve the pain.
- Oil of oregano has natural antibiotic properties which will help with the toothache.
