Focus on losing your weight from all parts of the body and your waist will get smaller automatically. Lose weight gradually along a proper diet regime and appropriate exercise to build muscles in that area and burn fat. Big tummy is especially a result of modern sedentary lifestyle and junk diet.
Remember these simple tips to lose weight around your tummy –
- Avoid going on fad diets or starving. Make a target to lose ½ - 1 kg a week.
- Processed carbohydrates and simple sugars should be avoided. Choose whole cereals and whole wheat products instead of refined ones. This is an important step to reduce your tummy.
- Always read food labels for fat and sugar content. Remember ‘fat free’ or ‘sugar free’ products do not mean calorie free.
- Try to include at least 8-9 servings of fruits and vegetables including 1 green leafy vegetable daily.
- Avoid deep fried, oily or fried foods, junk foods, processed or canned foods, sweets, chocolates. To include good quality proteins emphasize on pulses, sprouts, milk, eggs, fish, and lean meats or de skinned chicken.
- Drink plenty of water, especially a big glass of water 30 minutes before having a meal.
- Start your meals with a big bowl of salad, but avoid heavy dressings like mayonnaise cream or full fat yoghurt in it. Lemon, salt and pepper also taste excellent with salads.
- Exercise is a very important to lose weight and keep it off. If you can just do a simple brisk walk for 40-45 minutes it is fine. Stretching exercises like crunches is also a good to reduce the fat in the tummy region.
