my foot swells to the point where it is painful to walk. What can I do to get the swelling to go down.

Try the following remedies to decrease the swelling in your feet -
Soak your feet in warm water with salt added in it for 15 minutes. This will relieve the pain caused due to swelling and also help to reduce the swelling.
While sleeping put a pillow under the feet to keep them in elevated position.
This will help to improve circulation and reduce the swelling.
Give a nice massage to your feet with tea tree oil. This will help to reduce the swelling.
Treat your feet gently and wear soft comfortable shoes which fit you properly.
